reactiv.earrings started as a firmware project and turned into something you can actually wear. Every animation, every palette, every pixel — custom built.
The story
Most wearable lights are built around the assumption that bigger is better — LED strips, glowing jackets, face shields. They make a statement, but they're bulky, conspicuous, and rarely something you'd wear anywhere other than a festival.
We wanted to find a way to bring colour and movement to somewhere it had never really been before: small, everyday jewellery. Something light enough to forget you're wearing, striking enough that you won't want to take off.
reactiv.earrings grew out of a firmware project — a personal challenge to build a fully custom embedded system small enough to hang from an ear. The hardware, the firmware, every animation mode — all designed and written from scratch.

How long does the battery last?
3 to 4 hours per charge, depending on animation mode. Brighter, more active modes like Audio Visualizer will draw slightly more power.
How do I charge them?
The earrings charge via the included carry case, which has a USB-C port. Just place the earrings in the case, plug in a USB-C cable, and they'll charge up ready for your next event.
Are they water resistant?
Yes — the earrings are rated IP52: protected against dust ingress and light dripping water. They will handle sweat and light splashes without issue. We recommend avoiding submerging them or wearing them in heavy rain.
How do I switch animation modes?
The button on each earring controls everything:
- On / Off — Single click to put the earring to sleep; single click again to wake it.
- Change animation — Double click to advance to the next animation mode.
- Change colour — Long press (~1.2 s) to enter colour select mode. Once in that mode, single click steps through the available colour palettes. When you land on the one you want, another long press confirms your choice and returns to normal operation.
Do they react to music automatically?
Yes. The Audio Visualizer mode uses the onboard microphone to pick up ambient sound in real time — no pairing or app required. Just switch to the mode and the earrings respond to whatever is playing around you.
